After receiving many requests, I decided to make the elementary theme for Pidgin. The original was built for Empathy, but even this is very clean and integrated into the interface. There are some improvements concerning the transparency of the icons, I will update also the empathy version soon.
Criticism welcome.
Installation *nix: Extract the theme into ~/.purple/themes.
Installation Windows: Extract the theme into: C:\Documents and Settings\$USER\Applications Data\.purple\themes Installation Windows 7: Extract the theme into: C:\Users\$USER\AppData\Roaming\.purple\themes
Hello! I have just release a new (let me say ) awesome version of elementary pidgin. This version is compatible with dark theme and many icons was totally re-styled! Let me know what you think and stay tuned, a similar version (I think better) version will be release for empathy!
Update 2! Our talented mate Nicolas from Argentina a few days ago released a new docky's helper, where you can controll you status with a righ click on your mouse. I decided to revamp the original icon from elementary theme for fits with this new docky feature and I modified the script for aim on svg and not png for a better rendering. The result? you give me the answer! When you will download the archive you'll find two archives: elementary.2.zip (the theme already released) and pidginicons.zip (the real news). For the first the instructions are the same of everytime; for the second, you only need to extract the archive where you want and, after, double click on install.sh and select run.
Ok so there's something I'm missing here. I downloaded your windows theme download link in the description...then moved the "elementary" folder inside the zip to C:\Users\$USER\AppData\Roaming\.purple\themes But pidgin doesn't recognize it's existence, I haven't been able to find a way to activate the theme and this is the first time I've ever used a pidgin theme or...for that matter pidgin itself so, please help?
Oh sorry for monster delay in the answer! No I'm not planning to develop anything on windows, I don't like that OS. You can look for an elementary theme for windows, maybe someone port it on microsoft os, and than you can use my icon in pidgin.
hello, i really love this theme and i've been trying forever to get it to work, but i can't. i'm running Windows 7 & using Pidgin 2.7.3. i've read through all the comments to try to figure this out myself, but i don't think i'm extracting the theme files to the correct location or something. & every time i try to drag & drop into Pidgin's "Themes" preferences i just get an error.
But pidgin doesn't recognize it's existence, I haven't been able to find a way to activate the theme and this is the first time I've ever used a pidgin theme or...for that matter pidgin itself so, please help?
could you help?
For windows 7 the right path is: C:\Users\$USER\AppData\Roaming\.purple\themes
